The Kiertola project promotes the intelligent use of natural resources through the digital circular economy in Northern Ostrobothnia. It connects material producers and users through digital platforms, offering climate-wise solutions to improve economic growth, jobs, business, and the environment. The key measure of the project is to integrate the assessment of building materials into municipal planning and zoning, ensuring the collection of material information before the buildings are demolished.<\/p>\n

The goal of the project is to develop digital platforms and business models that benefit companies by promoting the market for recycled raw materials and efficient information flow. The measures include the introduction of a digital product passport and enhancing the recycling of surplus materials. In addition, the project collects digital information about the existing building stock to promote the circular economy. The pilot projects are experimenting with combining demolition sites and new production and proactively recording the material in the recycling system.<\/p>\n

The project also aims to explore export opportunities for products and operating models that could be of interest abroad. The main goal is to integrate material efficiency into an efficient and profitable business, bringing new business activities and creating networks for the circular economy in the region.<\/p>\n

The project is funded from the Just Transition Fund (JTF), where the grant is provided by the Council of Oulu Region. The project will be implemented between 01.10.2023 and 31.07.2026 and its total budget is \u20ac503,642.<\/p>\n
