The mapping algorithm utilizes a geospatial data and is validated with field measurements of four pilot areas. As a result, the method of utilizing drained peatlands for water protection is scaled up to the whole country, and a specific plan for the Iijoki River to implement the water protection method is developed.<\/p>\n<p>The project is funded by Centre for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment \/ North Ostrobothnia. Co-funders are, Municipalities: Ii, Oulu, Pudasj\u00e4rvi and Taivalkoski, Companies: PVO-Vesivoima Oy,\u00a0 Mets\u00e4hallitus Mets\u00e4talous Oy and Mets\u00e4hallitus Luontopalvelut.
